Co-Evolution Path Model (Cepm): Sustaining Enterprises as Complex Systems on the Edge of Chaos
نویسندگان
چکیده
The purpose of this paper is primarily theoretical – to propose and detail a model for system evolution, and show its derivation from the fields of enterprise architecture (EA), cybernetics and systems theory. Cybernetic thinking is used to develop the co-evolution path model (CePM) to explain how enterprises co-evolve with their environments. The model re-interprets Ashby’s law of requisite variety, Stafford Beer’s viable system model, and Conant and Ashby's theorem of the 'good regulator' to exemplify how various complexity management theories could be synthesized into a cybernetic theory of EA – informing management of mechanisms to maintain harmony between the evolution of the enterprise as a complex system and the evolution of its complex environment.

Co-evolution Path Model: How Enterprises as Complex Systems Survive on the Edge of Chaos
In this theoretical paper, we introduce and describe a model, and demonstrate its origins from the disciplines of Enterprise Architecture, cybernetics and systems theory. We use cybernetic thinking to develop a ‘Co-evolution Path Model’ that describes how enterprises as complex systems co-evolve with their complex environments. The model re-interprets Stafford Beer’s Viable System Model, and al...
متن کاملA Study of Pedestrian Movement on Crosswalks Based on Chaos Theory
Walking, as an important transportation mode, plays a large part in urban transportation systems. This mode is of great importance for planners and decision-makers because of its impact on environmental and health aspects of communities. However, this mode is so complex in nature that makes it difficult to study or model. On the other hand, chaos theory studies complex dynamical nonlinear syste...

Precisely describing the formation and evolution rules of coal-rock fracturing crack have great value on reservoir fracturing improvement and highly efficient mining of coal bed methane well. In this paper, a non-linear dynamic method is used to study crack damage evolution behavior of coal-rock fracturing. Considering distribution characteristics of natural cracks in coal-rock, and based on da...
متن کاملIntroduction to Schramm-Loewner evolution and its application to critical systems
In this short review we look at recent advances in Schramm-Loewner Evolution (SLE) theory and its application to critical phenomena. The application of SLE goes beyond critical systems to other time dependent, scale invariant phenomena such as turbulence, sand-piles and watersheds. Through the use of SLE, the evolution of conformally invariant paths on the complex plane can be followed; hence a...

Complexity Theory and Collagist Approach in Geomorphic Systems Introduction Now, scientists know the world as complex systems that predict consequences of it is so difficult. In this situation, the systems operated by rotation manner in which chaos is order and discipline leads to chaos. Nowadays, simple idea of how the world work change and convert to complex and paradoxical idea. This i...
